My goal is for both you and your child to have a positive experience in Kindergarten this year!
School hours begin promptly at 8:45am and dismissal begins at 2:50pm.
A successful school year is the responsibility of the children, the parents, and the school staff. Your child's progress, both academically and socially, is influenced to a great extent by daily participation. Regular attendance without tardiness is vital. Should your child be absent, please call the school in the morning to let us know.
If you plan to pick your child up or change his/her bus route for any reason, please send a note or contact the office. We cannot rely on your child to tell us about a change in transportation. If a note is not written or a phone call is not received, your child will be sent home by their usual method of transportation.
Home/School Communication Folder-
Please look in your child's backpack everyday. We send all news home with your child in this important
folder. These folders will come home daily and should be returned to school each day. Please send all notes, money, and other important information in your child’s folder. Please empty the folder each day so children have enough room to bring their work home in it everyday.
As you may already know, we now have a program online in order for you to purchase your child’s school
lunches. However, if you do not wish to participate in this program please send lunch money and slips in an envelope at the beginning of each week. Please put your child’s name on the envelope and the total amount enclosed. Lunch slips should have been sent home to you already, but if you need more please let me
know and I will send them home right away. If you would like to apply for free or reduced lunch please fill out the application that was sent home in your packet on the first day of school. Snacks are eaten every afternoon. Kindergarten has 1st lunch so your child may get hungry if he/she has no snack until they get off the bus.
Birthdays are wonderful!! We recognize your child's birthday with a special pencil, sticker and birthday crown. Semi-healthy treats(ex.pudding, jello, muffins, etc.) may be sent to school for your child’s birthday. Sending treats are optional. If your child’s birthday falls during the summer months, I will let you know the date to send treats.
"I'm a Star" (person of the week)-
Your child will be recognized as our “Star” one week of this school year. When it is your child’s turn, he/she will bring home a poster to complete about themselves. Your child will bring the poster back to school and share it with the class.
Your child will have the opportunity to order books for your home library. The book orders are from Scholastic Books and will be sent home each month. The classroom will receive bonus points from your orders which will help us to expand the classroom library as well.
There are 2 ways to order~ fill out the order form and return it to school with a check made out to Scholastic Book or place an order online using a credit card and our class code GQ8HN by going to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs
We are always looking for good help and appreciate whatever time you can give us. If you would like to help on a field trip, assist in the classroom, help prepare materials, or volunteer in the cafeteria, please fill out a CORI form. We cannot accept help from anyone who has not been approved by the school. However, please understand if it becomes difficult for your child to have you in the classroom, we may have to make other arrangements.
If you would like to donate much needed items to our classroom we are always in need of tissues and Clorox wipes. Other items we could use are play-doh, cotton balls, expo dry erase markers, and gallon size storage bags.
